Online store and back office migrated from WordPress to Odoo, with automated dropshipping
A full migration of the online store and back-office operations from WordPress to Odoo to gain efficiency, security, and scalability. The dropshipping flow with Germany was automated, customer management was centralized, and the digital experience was optimized.
Challenge
Pet-fit.es ran on WordPress, with clear room for improvement in conversion, efficiency, and security. The site's design looked dated, which undermined user trust. There were recurring incidents with SSL certificates, as well as the greater exposure inherent in the plugin ecosystem.
On the operations side, the dropshipping process meant handling German-language paperwork by hand every day and emailing it to the parent company, which was time-consuming and error-prone. Customer service was also handled by email with no unified traceability, making it hard to get a complete view of each customer's history.
The company was clearly committed to continuous improvement and was looking for a modern, robust, scalable platform that would bring eCommerce, operations, and customer relationships together in a single environment.
Solution
The project consisted of migrating the digital operation to Odoo, taking advantage of its integrated architecture of ERP, eCommerce, CRM, and native dropshipping flows. The approach included:
- An initial process assessment and the definition of the future integrated operation.
- Migration of the online store to Odoo, replicating and modernizing it while ensuring consistency of catalog, prices, and policies.
- Full automation of dropshipping: each order automatically generates a purchase order in German, which is sent to the parent company with no manual intervention.
- Centralized customer service through Odoo CRM, bringing communications, tickets, and orders together in a 360° view.
- Stronger security and availability, thanks to centralized management of certificates and updates in the Odoo environment.
- Migration of critical data and end-to-end testing to validate the entire chain: sales, logistics, and service.
Certain technical details have been adapted or omitted to comply with NDAs and information security policies.
Results
- Daily manual tasks eliminated entirely: purchase orders to Germany are now generated and sent automatically.
- Centralized traceability: orders, communications, and sales actions are integrated, providing a 360° view of the customer.
- Greater operational efficiency: a significant reduction in errors and administrative time, with estimated improvements of around 30–40% in internal management.
- Stronger security and availability: SSL incidents have disappeared and exposure to vulnerabilities is lower.
- A modernized user experience: a more trustworthy, up-to-date store that helps improve conversion and repeat purchases.
- A scalable technology base: Odoo opens the door to future expansion into marketing, finance, inventory, or analytics without leaving the same ecosystem.
